I received my BFA in painting from Baylor University in 1996. I quickly returned to Austin, and worked as a full time bartender and very part time illustrator. In 2003 I was considered talented enough to become one of the art fabricators at Blue Genie Art Industries, and I am now the Shop Manager. Constantly being around art, and producing the work of other artists has inspired me and helped me to focus on what it is that I want to achieve in a painting. My new series began in 2006 with an acrylic monochrome painting based on an old photograph. Each new piece still begins with a photo; usually with a space or militaria theme. Instead of a straight monochromatic color scheme, the paintings will employ several colors for the light and dark values. In the end, the final work has a very photographic look, but feels like memory. My artistic inspirations are numerous, but my current work is very much in the tradition of Chuck Close and Mark Tansey.

My wife, Tracey, and I have been together for ten years, and our beautiful daughter, Ady, turns four in May.
