I received my BFA in painting from Baylor University in 1996. I and am now a freelance artist. My new series began in 2006 with an acrylic monochrome painting based on an old photograph. Each new piece still begins with a photo; usually with a space or militaria theme. Instead of a straight monochromatic color scheme, the paintings will employ several colors for the light and dark values. In the end, the final work has a very photographic look, but feels like memory. My artistic inspirations are numerous, but my current work is very much in the tradition of Chuck Close and Mark Tansey. My wife, Tracey, and I have been together for eleven years, and our beautiful daughter, Ady, turns five in May. |
